E.C.C.O. has attended the 2017 Plenary Session Steering Committee for Culture, Heritage and Landscape (CDCPP) Council of Europe

The Steering Committee on Culture, Heritage and Landscape (CDCPP) held its 6th meeting in Strasbourg from 10 to 12 May 2017 in the Palais de l’Europe. E.C.C.O. has the Observer status, and was invited to join this meeting, where participants from among the fifty States signatory to the European Cultural Convention, and the civil organizations appointed as Observers, discussed the main areas of the CDCPP’s work and their contribution to democracy. E.C.C.O.s work with European political institutions is addressed mainly on Relevancy: the work of the conservator-restorer is in the public interest. As the conservator-restorer intervenes directly on the material of the cultural heritage a high level of competences is needed for this management of change including scientific methodology, ethical standards and manual skills, a specific education. The education to achieve theses competences is delivered in a 5 years cycle with a Master in Conservation-Restoration. E.C.C.O. has observer status to the Council of Europe, a small delegation participated at the Plenary session of the Council of Europe Steering Committee on Landscape and Culture CDCPP in Strasbourg Explanation about what is CDCPP, our position as observer and expert group, work on Strategy 21, E.C.C.O. want to ensure that where conservation and restoration are referred to in the document that these concepts as well as the terminology are used in the way, the international community of Conservator-Restorers have adopted since more than 25 years.
