The Nordic Association of Conservators (NKF)
NKF was founded in 1950 and functions as a regional group in The International Institute for the Conservation of Artistic and Historic Works (IIC), and is known as
IIC Nordic Group.
The central Nordic Association of Conservators (NKF), links the Nordic national bodies in Sweden (NKF-S), Denmark (NKF-D), Norway (NKF-N), Finland (NKF-Fi) and Iceland (NKF-Is). The four national sections are also members of The European Confederation of Conservator-Restorers Organisations (E.C.C.O.).
A congress topic to illustrate how the conservation-restoration discipline has evolved over the last decades. Progress has been made both through research and trial-and-error. Analytical methods, documentation, conservation treatments, choice of material as well as the circumstances under which conservator-restorers work are continuously developing.
The congress opens for evaluation of the profession and how we utilize and share our experiences. We look back to analyze the viability of conservation treatment techniques, how we deal with ethical dilemmas, use of best-practice, look back on collaborations we have had and the guidelines which we have been following since the 1980´s till today.
